About the Artist

BLANK

Evan Blondell was born in Sodus , N.Y., a small township located on the shoreline of Lake Ontario in the Western region of New York State.  He discovered art at four years old when he drew a blue jay at preschool.  Even at that young age, it became clear that Evan had not only a passion, but also an extraordinary talent as an artist. Evan earned a B.F.A. in Sculpture and a B.A. in Art History from SUNY Potsdam in 2006.  During his collegiate experience at Potsdam, he was the Vice President of the Student Art Association, a member of the Kappi Pi Honor Society, and exhibited work in several juried shows.

For one year, beginning in the Fall of 2006, Evan shared his talents working as an Art Instructor for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at St. Lawrence NYSARC in Northern N.Y.  Prior to that position, he worked in Washington D.C. for the U.S. General Services Administration as an Intern for the Design Excellence Program; a multi-billion dollar program.  Evan was honored as a winner of the 2006 International Sculpture Center’s Outstanding Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture and exhibited his piece, "Lawn Mower," for six months at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, N.J.

In 2007, Evan was awarded a grant to begin post-bachelor studies in Sculpture at the Art Institute of Chicago.  Evan may be reached at eblond@saic.edu.
