Max Coots of Max Coots Sculptures is a retired Unitarian Universalist Minister who, upon retiring, studied sculpture and ceramics at St. Lawrence University for several years. Death of a Loved One:  Catharus Bicknelli Pencil on Vellum, 11" x 14".  Bicknell's Thrush breeds in northeastern North America .  With a population under 40,000, Bicknell's Thrush is a Neotropical migrant of highest conservation priority.  Degradation of habitat throughout its range and mercury poisoning are two of the biggest factors in the decline of the bird. Below the drawing of Bicknell's Thrush, the periodic table with mercury highlighted is presented, offering an interesting juxtaposition of imagery illustrating man's effect on nature. "Sonoran Evening" Bracelet 8" x 2" Freeform peyote stitch bracelet with handmade Raku fired ceramic beads. (Original)

Mary Harding of Mary Harding Jewelry is a bead artist living in St. Lawrence County. She has been making beaded jewelry since 1994. Her creations include neckpieces, cuff bracelets and strung handmade ceramic bead bracelets and necklaces. She has specialized in freeform peyote stitch cuff bracelets. These bracelets are made with an early Native American off loom bead stitch called the peyote or gourd stitch. Mary also makes her own ceramic clay of the earth beads, pendants, and vessel pendants to be used in her strung necklaces and in her freeform peyote stitch creations. Her beads are both slip cast and hand built. Each bead is individually decorated with stampings, multiple stainings, firings and glazing often resulting in an ancient or primitive look. More recently she has begun to use impressions from wildflowers and plants that blossom in the summer in the pastures of Northern New York. Mary is a proud member of the Beads of Clay Yahoo Group (BOC). Mary may be contacted by e-mail mary@maryhardingjewelry.com or P.O. Box 148, Rensselaer Falls, NY 13680, (315) 344 7252.
