Our Mission
The mission of St. Lawrence NYSARC's
Community Arts Program is to integrate individuals with
intellectual and developmental disabilities into the community
through exploration in the areas of Acting, Dance, Visual Arts, and
Music.
Our goal is to help individuals reach
the full potential of their creative abilities and
enable them to achieve dignity and
independence through artistic self-expression. |

Program Structure
Workshops
in Acting, Dance, Visual Arts, and Music offered weekly
during the day and
in the early evenings to interested
program participants.

Workshops led by trained and qualified
staff in the creative arts.
A
Performing Arts Troupe meets several days each week between the
hours of
3:00 p.m. through 5:00 p.m. to formally
rehearse projects.

There is an Annual Showcase of talents
held in collaboration with SUNY Potsdam
to perform pieces created in workshops;
as well as a display of Visual Artwork. |

Music:
Learning songs, different styles and types of music,
playing musical instruments
Theatre: Education on the basics of
theatre, improvisation, role playing, pantomime, theatre
games, rehearsal of scenes and plays
Visual Arts:
Working with various art forms and materials such as
pencils, paper, clay, and paints
Dance:
Education of dance styles, steps, and movement
