Promo 2006 St. Lawrence Nysarc Announces 26th Annual Fund Raiser Winners

A Grand Prize of $12,000 Awarded to Meg Mayer, Potsdam

St. Lawrence NYSARC (www.slnysarc.org), a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to working for and with people with developmental disabilities, conducted the 26th Annual Fund Raiser on April 7, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. at the Best Western University Inn, Canton, New York. The Agency sold 2,264 certificates for a net profit of $31,558. The Agency gave away 68 prizes with a total value of more than $35,000. Meg Mayer, Potsdam won the grand prize of $12,000 cash.

The Agency's Fund Raiser and Silent Auction were hosted by WWNYTV's Jeff Cole, the anchor of "7 News This Morning" and "7 News at Noon."  Phyllis Shimmel, Treasurer of St. Lawrence NYSARC's Board of Directors, gave the opening comments for the evening. Those presiding over the drawing included: Donna Hutton from the Stackel & Navarra, C.P.A. firm, Patrolman, Andrew Dow, Canton Police Department and Richard L. Laurin, past Executive Director.

Daphne Pickert, Executive Director of St. Lawrence NYSARC, expressed appreciation for the continuing support from community members and local businesses. "The funds raised during this annual appeal are vital to support programs that are fully inclusive and enhance personal growth for the people we serve," said Pickert. "Every dollar raised is used right here in St. Lawrence County to support services such as The Community Arts Program, Respite, The After School Program, Guardianship, and Team NYSARC."
