St. Lawrence NYSARC Hosts Flame Concert Sponsored by the Down Syndrome Association of St. Lawrence County

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – St. Lawrence NYSARC, a private, non-profit organization committed to maximizing the potential of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, announced a partnership with the Down Syndrome Association of St. Lawrence County to bring the musical group, Flame, to Canton on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. The concert will be held on the grounds at St. Lawrence NYSARC’s main office, located at 6 Commerce Lane.

Thanks to the presenting sponsorship from the Down Syndrome Association of SLC, this performance will be free and open to the public as part of Dairy Princess Weekend. Additional support for Flame is being provided by Enbridge and the Canton Community Foundation.

The Down Syndrome Association of SLC is a non-profit group of parents, guardians, friends, and self-advocates. The group seeks to support and encourage people with Down Syndrome and their families. They also want to educate the public about the amazing abilities and potential of all children and adults with Down Syndrome.

Flame, a group of talented musicians from upstate New York who happen to have disabilities, has been capturing the world’s attention for a decade. The group has toured the northeast playing over 75 paid performances per year. They play over 100 popular classic hits from the past five decades and perform original music, as well. Flame has performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the House of Blues; had a feature story in People magazine; and an appearance on ABC TV’s Good Morning America. They have brought their message of inspiration to people and performances all over the world. Flame’s mission is to bring their music and message to the rest of the world to help change how the public perceives people with disabilities and increase the awareness and acceptance of all people.
