St. Lawrence NYSARC (, a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to working for and with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is holding a walk to promote awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorders at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Village Park on Main Street in Canton, N.Y.  Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.  The event will be hosted by WWNY-TV’s Jeff Cole and Rose and Kiernan is the presenting sponsor.  Additional sponsors include 95.3 The Wolf, Blevins Brothers, Friot’s Bounce House Rentals, Pepsi-Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers, Olympia Sports, Ogdensburg Command Performances, Kinney Drugs, and The First Presbyterian Church on the Park in Canton.
The Autism Awareness Walk is a non-competitive walk to promote education and support services offered by St. Lawrence NYSARC for people on the Autism Spectrum.  Walkers who raise $25 or more will receive a coffee mug and donors at $50 or more will receive an Autism Awareness Walk t-shirt, while supplies last.  The 2015 t-shirt features a design by artists Greta Bellardini and Tyler Hinkley. 
The first 300 registered participants will get a free gift bag.  Download the registration form at This year’s event will also include bounce houses provided by Friot’s Bounce House Rentals, refreshments from Grub Tub, face painting, a flag contest, and activities for children.  Radio station 95.3 The Wolf’s own Tony Lynn will broadcast live from the park!
St. Lawrence NYSARC’s Children and Youth Program provides individualized services for people with developmental disabilities from three to 22 years old with a specialization in Autism Spectrum Disorders.  Students participate in a variety of skill development activities addressing social, daily living, and academic skills using principles and procedures of Applied Behavior Analysis.  Additionally, services are offered in the child’s home, in the community, and occasionally in their local school district.  For more information, contact Nancy Davis at (315) 379-9531 or email
