Summer Games
The Area 27 Summer Games will be held at Potsdam College on Saturday, May 10, 2008. Events will include 50M, 100M and 200M runs, 100M and 200M walk, softball distance throw, long jump, basketball skills, Team Basketball,
soccer accuracy kick, and other events designed for ayhletes with limited physical skills. Anyone interested in volunteering at the event may call

John Roach
, who was recognized as 2006 Male Athlete of the Year for Area 27, was also selected to participate in the National Games in Ames, Iowa where he took second place honors in the 400 Meter Run.

Torch Relay

Law Enforcement Torch Run
The annual St. Lawrence County Law Enforcement Torch Run is scheduled for Friday, May 9, 2008. Opening ceremonies will be held at the Ogdensburg
City Hall at 7:30AM. The run will begin at the City Hall at 7:45AM andconclude at the Massena City Hall building at approximately 1:30PM. There will be a complimentary luncheon for the runners and Special Olympic athletes following the conclusion of the run. Any Special Olympic athlete interested in participating in the run may call Tim Welpe at 379-9531 to register.

Pedals for Medals 2006

Pedals for Medals is a four day, 300 mile ride to raise funds for Special Olympics New York. Eleven individuals representing St. Lawrence NYSARC rode a section of the route between Nicholville and Hopkinton. Staff member Don Mcpherson rode the entire 300 mile route. Sue Freego (HMPF) assisted in coordinating the NYSARC riders.
